James Nash (Ormskirk GC, Eng), Sam Mullane (JGE) and Oliver Ravenscourt (EGC) lead on two under par in a rain impacted round one at the 2023 Omega Dubai Creek Men’s Open at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

In round one today (Saturday), Nash managed to complete 15 holes, Mullane 11 holes and Ravenscourt nine holes.

Nash opened up with three birdies and two bogeys in a front nine of 34. His back nine contained a bogey on hole 12 and back to back birdies on holes 14 and 15.

Mullane, like Nash, bogeyed the first but recovered well with birdies on holes 2, 4 and 5.

Ravenscourt was out in 33, with birdies on both holes 1, the par four 438 yard opener, and the par three eighth alongside seven pars.

The rain came in to suspend and ultimately stop play for the day with the final group of the day having played just two holes and 47 players completing their rounds.

The leader in the clubhouse, having completed all 18 holes is Jackson Garnett (Five Lakes GC, Eng) who had a four birdie level par 71 to be tied sixth and will have a deserved lie in and an exemption from the morning shotgun.

In the Net Division, Rishi Chauhan (24, EGC) shot an impressive net 63 in his completed round, which included a remarkable front nine of 38 gross followed by a back nine of 49.

The Tournament Committee have decided that the first round will be completed tomorrow (Sunday) with a 7 am shotgun start with all players starting from where they finished their rounds today in the same threeballs.

The second round of the 36 hole tournament will be played in a 12 noon shotgun with the leading players out last from tee one in fourballs and play in the afternoon in golf carts.

111 players are in the field who are playing from the Blue Tee course.

The event is a qualifying tournament for the 2022 – 2023 EGF Order of Merit.
