Tauseef Khan and Rene Gsponer won their respective divisions in the recent Order of Merit event on The Senior Champions Tour (TSCT) at Abu Dhabi Golf Club played over the National Course.
The best score of the day was 39 Stableford points by Rene Gsponer (13) with the equivalent of a gross 82, net 69 to win Division B.
Highlights of Gsponer’s round were a gross birdie three on the par 6th hole, playing at 366 yards for 4 points. Gsponer accumulated 10 pars in total during his round, seven of them with handicap shots.
In Division A, Tauseef Khan (10) won with 32 points, on a countback, with six players all within one point in a closely fought division.
Vijay Vasu, Co-founder and organiser of The Senior Champions Tour said at the event, ‘Today we have had a record entry for one of our TSCT events. It is the first event in Abu Dhabi since the pandemic, we had a great time with support from golfers throughout the UAE.’
‘We are especially pleased that our Tour is affiliated to the Emirates Golf Federation and all players must hold an official EGF Handicap. The results and scores are now showing we are able to monitor handicaps and, in the end, the best players with good rounds winning the trophies.’
The next event on TSCT, open to golfers, men and ladies over the age of 50, is at JA The Resort, Jebel Ali, Dubai, on 22nd February, 2023.
