Dubai: Dubai-based Jeev Milkha Singh shot a disappointing five over par 75 in round one of The Senior Open presented by Rolex held over the King’s Course at Gleneagles, co-sanctioned by both the Champions Tour and Legends Tour.
The Indian struggled from the start with four bogeys in his first six holes to be out in 38 against a par of 34.
Birdies on holes 10 and 11 showed promise but three further bogeys on holes 13, 15 and 17 left Jeev returning a back nine of 37 and a round of 75 over the 6,859 yards par 70 layout.
Players of note
Stephen Ames of Canada with a six under 64, including four birdies and an eagle was holding the lead with a few players still out on the golf course.
Other players of note in the 154-player field for aged 50+ players included Ireland’s Padraig Harrington on 66, Bernhard Langer playing with Jeev on 67 and Darren Clarke also on 67.
The second round of this 72-hole Senior Major takes place on Friday with the last 36 holes being played on Saturday and concluding on Sunday.
