On Thursday this week, the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates hosted Jumeirah Golf Estates weekly Thursday Curry Club, which is played as a 9-hole pairs scramble.

A record number of 40 players took part in the sweltering Afternoon heat. The teams comprised of new and long-standing Jumeirah Golf Estates members along with some of the golf management team.

Ladies were teeing up from the orange tee markers, with gents playing off the signature tee markers. Each team received a 50% course Handicap Allowance from 35% + 15% lowest to highest handicaps.

Victory for the Khanna's

The winners of this week’s edition of the Thursday Curry Club were first time players of the Curry Club, Ravi Khanna and Roma Khanna with a fabulous 31 net (5 under par). The pair worked well to navigate the front nine of the Earth Course and their excellent teamwork showed, finishing a shot clear of our runners up. Both winners will receive a 4-ball complimentary round on the Earth Course.

Falling just short of the winner’s this week and finishing runners up were new members Philip Childs and Andrew Parsons who scored a well-respected round of 32 net (4 under par).

The pairing of Martin Issott and Noel O’Leary made up the top 3, also scoring a 32 net (4 under par) however, missing out on second place on a countback.

There was a selection of special events on the front nine of the Earth course.Winning longest drive on Hole 2 was James Harrison who left himself with just an iron into the long Par 5. Winning the nearest to the pin on Hole 6 was Marc Beattie who hit an incredible shot to a couple of feet.

After golf, the fantastic Kasturi restaurant hosted all players to delicious sharing curries.

Whilst concluding the prize-giving presentation, Rory Stewart, Golf Services Executive at Jumeirah Golf Estates, commented, “I am so pleased that you all could join us for today’s event. I am very pleased to see our weekly Thursday Curry Club grow hit record numbers this week and I will hopefully see you all next week along with some new faces”.
