It was recently Jumeirah Golf Estates turn to host the Dubai Golf Colleague Championship where teams from Jumeirah Golf Estates, Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and VIYA Golf all battle it out to become champions.
The Fire course took center stage with teams playing in a pairs scramble. The best net score on each hole counted towards the pair's score. The team with the highest overall score would be crowned Dubai Golf Colleague Championship winners.
It was a win on home turf as the Jumeirah Golf Estates team used their local course knowledge to come out on top with an incredible score of thirty-four under par (-34). It was tight at the top as Emirates Golf Club missed out on first place by one shot, finishing runners-up on thirty-three under par (-33).
Finishing in third place with a score of twenty-five under par (-25) was the VIYA Golf team, with the team at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club coming in fourth with twenty-three under par (-23).
In the pairs scramble category, it was another victory for Jumeirah Golf Estates as the duo of Jay Gurung and Sabin Khanal fended off the rest of the field shooting an amazing 61 net (-11 under par).
The runners-up were Sasi Nathan and Krisho Kumar from VIYA Golf who scored a net 62 (-10 under par) finishing only one shot behind the winners. Finishing in third place with a score of 64 Net (-8 under par), were the team of Harish Dasarthi and Vinoth Kumar who were also representing VIYA Golf.
Onto the on-course competitions and it was another prize for Jumeirah Golf Estates own Sabin Khanal who won the nearest to the pin on Hole 14. Winning the longest drive competition on Hole 7 was Mason Geddes of VIYA Golf, who hit a super drive straight down the middle.
Whilst concluding the prize-giving presentation, Franco Botha, Director of Golf, commented, "I am delighted to see such a fantastic turnout today and thank you for braving the heat this afternoon. It’s great to see colleagues from all over Dubai and VIYA Golf join for such a great event and I look forward to seeing you all at the next Colleague Championship".
