The 2022 ladies season opener took at the Emirates Golf Club with sixty eight ladies taking part in a fourball scramble event around the Majlis course in honour of the new lady captain for 2022 - 2023, Maria Arias.

As is tradition on the season opener, the ladies playing in the event gathered around the first tee to watch Marivi’s opening tee shot. As a sign of friendship and respect for the new lady captain, the ladies all wore red and white colours today in honor of Marivi and her home country of Peru. Marivi, amidst a sea of her home colours, hit a wonderful drive 197 yards straight down the centre of the fairway to great cheers and applause.

The winning ‘Guess the Distance’ was won by Alison Cowley.

Following the first tee ceremonies, all ladies headed out onto the course in their teams to compete for today’s prizes.

With a tremendous score of 58 net, the winners were Genie Owiti, Anne Gely Bouigue, Christine Sprunck, and Noemy Bertuol. Genie and her team played a brilliant round of golf consisting of twelve net birdies and finishing with a net eagle on the 18th to win the event by two shots. Runners-up spot went to the team of Alison Cowley, Laura Mann, Yana Jamieson and Victoria Anikina. The ladies carded a very impressive eight net birdies and two net eagles on the day to come home with a net score of 60.

Third spot went to the team of Margaret Breen, Sabine Chaudry, Haide Wright and Michele Carlson with a net score of 61.
