Dubai: The R&A, organisers of The 150th Open at St Andrews, Scotland, this week, invited the Emirates Golf Federation and all other global affiliates to attend a Affiliates Workshop during the Championship week.

The objective of the workshop is to give the EGF and all the R&A Affiliates an opportunity to all come together to meet and network with other golf federations from around the world and share ideas and challenges of the global golf industry.

Robert Fiala, Operations and Marketing Manager, representing the EGF, commented from St Andrews: ‘‘The leading Federations and Associations gave us a presentation on programmes and initiatives that have been successful for golf and we all discussed future marketing and development strategies around the game of golf.

‘‘A hot topic of the workshop was all about the benefits of health in golf and how golf is good for all. In addition, the Workshop discussed how the digital footprint of technology is developing the sport of golf.’’

The R&A has 159 affiliates that operate in 144 countries around the world to develop and sustain the sport. Most of these affiliates are the national governing bodies for golf in each respective country, some are pan-continental organisations, with other representing professional golf.
