The three-man UAE Team and accompanying EGF delegates have arrived in Paris, France for the 32nd edition of the World Amateur Team Championships, more appropriately referred to as the Eisenhower Trophy.

Following the victory by Sweden’s ladies’ team in last week’s Espirito Santo Trophy in Paris, France, it is now the turn of the men with the Eisenhower Trophy, to be held Wednesday 31st August – Sunday 3rd September, 2022 at the same golf course venues.

Global event

The defending champions of the Eisenhower Trophy from 2018 are Denmark, with Covid having an impact on this biennial global golf event, with the event cancelled in 2020.

The UAE Team consists of Khalid Yousuf, Ahmad Skaik and Abdalla Al Musharrekh and captained by Khalid Mubarak.

The International Golf Federation (IGF) has confirmed the full list of participating countries in this week’s four round, 72 hole event, with a format of the best two from three scores counting to the Team Score, with an Individual Event also running parallel to the Team Event.

The schedule for the week is as below:

Today, Monday 29th August: Practice Round, Biennial IGF Meeting and Captain’s Meeting.

Tuesday, 30th August: Practice Round, Referee’s Meeting, Team Photos and Opening Ceremony.

Wednesday 31st August, Round One.

Thursday 1st September, Round Two.

Friday 2nd September, Round Three.

Saturday 3rd September, Round Four, Awards Ceremony.

The confirmed 72 participating countries are:

The Middle East and North Africa Teams participating are:

Bahrain: Khalifa Mohamed Khalifa, Abdullah Alyaqoob and Faah Sultan with Captain, Duaij Aleid.

Egypt: Issa Abouelela, Dean Naime, and Mohamed Abou El Ela with Captain, Ghassan Kabbani.

Lebanon: Rachid Akl, Mehdi Ramadan and Mazen Hamdan with Captain, Jean-Daniel Chamy.

Morocco: Hugo Mazen Trometter, El Mehdi Fakori and Mohamed Nizar Bourehim with Captain Jalil Benazzouz with Coach / Manager Mohammed Klaoua.

Qatar: Saleh Ali Al Kaabi, Ali Al Shahrani and Jaham Al Kuwari with Captain Hassan Benrokiya.

Saudi Arabia: Saud AlSharif, Abdulrahman Almansour and Faisal Salhab with Captain Al Albalhareth and Coach / Manager Grant Smith.

UAE: Khalid Yousuf, Ahmad Skaik and Abdalla Al Musharrekh with Captain Khalid Mubarak.

The UAE are confirmed hosts for the 2023 World Amateur Team Championships, both the Espirito Santo and Eisenhower Trophy to be held in October, 2023.
