The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) has officially announced its affiliation to the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) and the creation of a new UAE Determined Golfers programme.

On the day before the 13th DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates, the EGF and EDGA hosted a clinic for the Ras al-Khaimah People of Determination Center and members of the UAE Special Olympic Golf Team to announce this major achievement in UAE golf. Attending the clinic was European Tour star and DP World golf ambassador Ian Poulter and EDGA professional golfers, Chris Biggins and Adem Wahbi.

“This has been a vision that started in 2018 when the UAE was preparing for the Special Olympic World Games in Abu Dhabi. With the help of the UAE golf clubs, People of Determination Centers, and the DP World Tour Championship we are now taking “Determined Golf” to new heights within the UAE,” said EGF Vice Chairman Mr. Adel Zarouni.

“It is our goal to make the sport of golf more inclusive for everyone. With this new UAE Determined Golf Program the EGF is making golf accessible to everyone no matter their age, gender, or ability.”

Tony Bennett, the President of the European Disabled Golf Association, added:

“Our thanks go to DP World and to all at the European Tour for making this clinic and the EDGA Dubai Finale possible. Thanks to the Emirates Golf Federation for their vision to embrace an inclusive sport and to DP World ambassador Ian Poulter for taking the time out of his busy schedule this week to be with us today.”

Over the next 12 to 18 months the EGF will work closely with EDGA and the UAE golf clubs to put the UAE Determined Golfer Program in place. With the expertise from EDGA, assistance from the UAE golf clubs, and support of dedicated partners this new program is set to provide opportunities for everyone that wants to try the sport of golf.
