The Emirates Amateur Golf League has announced that an annual EAGL Ladies’ Masters will be held in October. The event will be part of the existing EAGL group of events, which already includes corporate, men’s and junior golf.

The EAGL mandate is to encourage amateur golf in the UAE, be inclusive and support golf for men, women and juniors, irrespective of age, nationality or sex. It also raises the bar for amateur golf to create the special experience of being a ‘Pro for the Day,’ with high-profile media, before, during and after the event, including some TV exposure as if it was a professional tournament.

Subcommittees under the EAGL corporate structure are being established and one already confirmed and the representatives appointed, will have the terms of reference to start negotiations with potential host golf clubs for the EAGL Ladies’ Masters.

The first main committee meeting, held at the headquarters of EAGL in Dubai was chaired by Sudesh Aggarwal, supported by League Administrator Priyaa Kumaria.

Committee members Maura Duggan, Jayshree Gupta, Yana Jamieson, Pia Fleury, Mitra Ghandi, Martha Wong and Kerry Potgieter were also in attendance.

Aggarwal said: “We had an excellent first meeting to establish an agenda for the EAGL Ladies’ Masters to be held later in 2022. We are now defining the roles and responsibilities of both the subcommittees and individuals around the table. This is an exciting time with the further expansion of the EAGL brand into ladies golf, in what is appropriately referred to as, ‘For the Ladies, By the Ladies.’

EAGL has been sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation and shall work together to grow the game of UAE ladies golf to greater heights.
