Dubai amateur Josh Hill completed his belated second round in stunning fashion to make the cut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The young Englishman had to finish off his round on Saturday morning as bad light forced the players off course on Friday evening when he still had six holes to play at Yas Links. He came out blazing on Saturday morning to shoot a second round 76 (four-over) for a 36-hole total of 147 to make the cut on the mark at three-over. The 17 year old, born and brought up in Dubai, birdied holes 15, 16 and 18.

Big names who were anxiously waiting to see where the cut line fell overnight included world No. 2 Open Championship and DP World Tour Championship title holder Collin Morikawa, four-time major winner Rory McIlroy and former Open champ Henrik Stenson.

James Morrison of England and Scotland’s Scott Jamieson lead the field after 36 holes on 7-under. The third round will be played on Saturday in a three-ball, two-tee format.
