Excitement is starting to build with less than a week to go until a host of star names descend on Al Hamra Golf Club to battle it out for the highly-anticipated Ras Al Khaimah Championship on February 2-5, 2023.

Victor Perez, winner of the season’s first Rolex Series event at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, will join two-time DP World Tour winner Adrian Meronk in what is shaping up to be a strong field in the northernmost emirate.

Both players are in fine form and started the season by helping to secure a 14.5 – 10.5 win for Continental Europe against Great Britain & Ireland in the inaugural Hero Cup.

The duo will join several other stellar names such as defending champion Nicolai Højgaard, 2018 winning Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørn, three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington and Spanish sensation Rafa Cabrera Bello.

“I’m looking forward to playing at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship for the first time,” said Perez.

“I got the season off to a great start at the Hero Cup followed by my first Rolex Series win in Abu Dhabi, so this is a great chance to keep the momentum going and secure more Race to Dubai and Ryder Cup points.

“I’m playing great golf at the moment, and I’m hoping it continues in Ras Al Khaimah.”

Meronk, who lost in a play-off at Al Hamra Golf Club at the 2017 Ras Al Khaimah Golf Challenge, is also looking forward to returning to the stunning Peter Harradine-designed track.

“The course is very enjoyable,” added Meronk. “I’m familiar with it because we played Challenge Tour there previously. Despite losing the play-off, it was great to play there as I have good memories of performing well.

“It was nice and relaxing last year because it was a resort-type place. I think Al Hamra suits my game because you have to hit some decent shots, especially with your approach shots.”

Away from the course, fans can enjoy a variety of fun-filled activities such as kids’ entertainment as well as live music every day on the clubhouse terrace.

“We’re excited to see the return of the Ras Al Khaimah Championship for a second year in a row,” said Tom Phillips, Head of Middle East for the DP World Tour.

“Last year’s tournament was a great success with a fantastic winner, and we’re looking forward to getting back to Al Hamra Golf Club for what will no doubt be another superb event.”
