Dubai: Dubai-based Chiara Noja (Germany) shot a second round two-over par 74 in the 54-hole €40,000 Santander Golf Tour Malaga at Torrequebrada in Spain on the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS). The 16-year-old is now three over after 36 holes and lies in tied 12th place with one round to go.

Chiara had seven pars, one bogey and a double on hole six in a front nine of three over par 39.

Birdies on holes 10 and 14 saw Chiara on the road to recovery, but finished the back nine with another double on 16 and a birdie on the home hole and a couple of pars to complete her card, for a 35 and a 74 total.

The hilly Torrequebrada course is being played this week at 6041 yards, par 72.

Commenting after her second round to Gulf News, Chiara said: ‘‘I have just one round to go before my well deserved and long overdue break from tournament golf. Perhaps the two doubles on my card today shows that I am not fully focused. Just 18 to play, then I can put the golf clubs away for a little while.’’

One of Chiara’s playing partners, Virginia Elena Carta (Italy) leads the tournament on four-under par after rounds of 68 and 72.

The third member of the group, Kristalle Blum (Australia) is currently sixth in the LETAS Order of Merit, headed by Chiara, and had rounds of 78 and 73 to lie in tied 32nd. The projected cut with players still on course is 10-over.
