Derek Smart (7) was the overall champion in the FGME’s recent Countdown to Masters 2023 tournament, the second Major Order of Merit Stroke Play event of the Filipino Golfers in the Middle East golfing calendar held at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club.
Smart was brilliant over the back nine with his three over 39 finishing with a gross 83 net 76.
As FIGME turns 15 years old in May 2023, FIGME Chairman Ramon Navea extended his heartfelt thanks to all participants and event sponsors: eGolf Megastore, Shake Shack, MS and all the contributions from individual golfers.
Major tournaments
Another fantastic event took place on the FIGME calendar where three minor and two major tournaments have been completed since its Season Opener in January 2023.
The next and third Major event will be held in Al Hamra Golf Club, Ras Al Khaimah on 29th April where a matchplay and individual competition will take place between Team Dubai & Team UAE.
