The May edition of the Jumeriah Pairs by The Lounge Spa was held over the Fire course at Jumeirah Golf Estates as the Earth course had undergone essential summer aeration procedures.
The format was a Better-Ball Stableford. Each player played his or her own ball, and the player with the best Stableford score on each hole will count towards the pair’s score on that hole.
This format was played on composite tee markers for gents and orange tee markers for ladies with an 85% handicap allowance.
The winners of The Jumeriah Pairs by The Lounge Spa were Kieran Casey (13) and Paul Ludlam (18), with a fantastic score of 48 points. The duo played exceptionally well together and dovetailed tremendously, with 24 points on both nines. Consistency was a critical factor in their game; this showed on the front nine, where Ludlam had four net birdies on holes 5-8.
Casey had a fantastic start to his back nine, contributing a net eagle and a net birdie. The runners-up were Imran Dadabhoy (9) and Nadeem Malak (13), also with a score of 48 points but denied the top spot through a count-back with this month's winners. The pair had a spectacular opening nine, picking up 26 points. A run of form came on hole 3, where they both contributed three net birdies on the bounce, followed by a net eagle on hole 6 and both birdied hole 7.
Securing third place was the pairing of Jonathan Swann (9) and Steve Noon (12), who scored a superb 47 points. The duo had 23 points on the front, followed by 24 points on the back.
A particular highlight was the two net eagles Noon secured: one on each nine. The second was the Nearest the Pin competition on hole 14. Whilst concluding the prize-giving presentation, Adam Stastny, Assistant Golf Services Manager at Jumeirah Golf Estates, commented, ‘It is fantastic to see such a good members turnout today. Well done to all our prize winners and thank you to our fantastic sponsors at The Lounge Spa for supporting member’s events here at Jumeirah Golf Estates.’
