Campbell Steedman, Emirates Golf Club Captain for 2022 – 2023 recently hosted his Captain’s Day at Emirates Golf Club.
A total of 178 players competed on the day, 150 men and 28 ladies, with the men playing a foursomes format with 50% of the combined handicap on the Majlis Course and the ladies playing a fourball betterball format with 85% handicap allowance on the Faldo Course.
The winning Men’s pair was Dmitriy Korshunov and Vikas Sachar with 38 Stableford Points, with a two point margin from Russell Curtis and Russell Yeomans with 36, who won on a countback from Thomas Pashley and Lucas Roberts.
The winning Ladies’ Pair was Anne Gely Bouigue and Nonita Chand with 41 Stableford Points.
At the start of the event there was a welcome breakfast with the Lady Captain Marivi Millership, Vice-Captains: Frank Duggan and Fiona Berry and the EGC Ladies’ Group.
Campbell said on conclusion of the event, ‘We had a fantastic day of golf and fun. I decided to play a format that is somewhat unknown in this part of the world - alternate shot foursomes - which made it both interesting and enabled us to maximise numbers. We also had a Scottish theme throughout the day, with a piper prior to play and my Captain’s Drive, a longest drive award on Hole 1 using a traditional hickory golf club, and an enjoyable prize presentation evening. Thanks to all for attending and to Emirates Golf Club for all their hard work in arranging such a memorable day.’
Special thanks were also given to the sponsors: DP World, HSBC, Emirates, TechAccess, Squire Patton Boggs, St Andrews Golf Company, Golf Kraft and Precision Golf.
