Dubai: The $75,000 Blue Canyon Open, to be held from tomorrow (Wednesday) May 18-20 (Friday) at Blue Canyon Golf Club, Phuket, Thailand, is the final event on the MENA Tour’s 2020 Journey to Jordan Order of Merit.

This is the fourth and final 54-hole event in the ‘Beautiful Thailand Series’ that sees the comeback, post Covid, of the MENA Tour, co-sanctioned with the Asian Development Tour (ADT). The field and draw of 144 players have been announced for tomorrow’s (Wednesday) first round.

Included in the field are UAE-based players from England: Luke Joy (11.40 am Hole 1) and Joshua Grenville-Wood (12.10 pm Hole 10). The Journey to Jordan Order of Merit Rankings, have included nine events, in six countries and lasted for more than two years.

The current top three players in the MENA Tour Rankings, all Englishmen: Tom Sloman, David Langley and David Hague will all be playing this week. Joy sits in 18th place and Grenville-Wood in 35th in the season long Rankings having played seven and two tournaments, respectively.

The overall Journey to Jordan Order of Merit champion will earn an invite to one of the Asian Tour’s 10 new marquee $1.5 million The International Series events in 2022.

The top-10 available Order of Merit players will also earn invites to the next two ADT events, after which the ADT will conduct its own re-ranking, meaning potential promotion to the main Asian Tour. In addition, the top-10 players in the Journey to Jordan Rankings will also be exempted to the final stage of Asian Tour Q-School for the 2023 Asian Tour season.
