Walkers bring out flavour of crisps named after Leicester striker

Dubai: Jamie Vardy is certainly flavour of the month after his Premier League scoring exploits helped propel Leicester City to the top of the table, and his efforts have now been recognised by food firm Walkers naming packets of crisps after him.
Vardy recently set a new Premier League record by scoring in 11 successive games, and Walkers, branded as Lay’s in the UAE, are to issue a flavour of the snack called Vardy Salted.
“The rumours are true! We’ve worked with @LCFC to create limited edition packs for Monday night’s match. SCORE!,” tweeted Walkers, who were founded in Leicester in 1948 and sponsor both City’s stadium and shirts.
Walkers have commissioned 32,000 packets of the specially-branded version of their ready salted flavour to hand out to fans who are attending Monday’s meeting with Chelsea.
It is not the first time the firm has branded crisps after footballers. Walkers also have a long-term sponsorship deal with former Leicester City striker and BBC presenter Gary Lineker, and previously brought out a ‘Salt N’ Lineker’ line.
Vardy was named Player of the Month for November - and is likely to be part of Roy Hodgson’s England squad for Euro 2016.
Whether munching on packets of his own branded crisps will help get him there is another matter.
