Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala sustained a serious injury during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 quarterfinal match against Paris Saint-Germain at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday.

The 22-year-old midfielder appeared to be in significant discomfort during first-half stoppage time. While attempting to reach a loose ball inside the penalty area, Musiala was beaten to it by PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who collided with him in the process.

The impact left Musiala writhing in pain, and the immediate reactions of nearby players suggested the injury was severe. A visibly shaken Donnarumma was seen in tears after witnessing the aftermath.

Musiala, making his first start since April’s Bundesliga clash against Augsburg, had recently returned to action and played a key role in Bayern’s impressive start to the tournament, including a hat-trick in a dominant 10-0 victory over Auckland City.

Bayern anxious

His return had been a major boost for Vincent Kompany’s side during their Club World Cup campaign in the United States.

However, the young German attacker was stretchered off the pitch following the incident, and Bayern now face an anxious wait for a detailed medical diagnosis amid growing concerns of a lengthy absence.
