Some Paris residents are choosing to sleep in parks rather than spend the night in sweltering apartments as an intense heatwave continues across France.

Dozens of Parisians left their homes during night and set up camp out on the grass at the At Parc des Buttes-Chaumont.

On Wednesday, France sweltered through its hottest day since measurements began in 1947, breaking another record set just the previous day.
