Watch the sporting side of Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan

Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, shared pictures of himself with champion horse Utoufa de Lap, via Instagram on Friday. Sheikh Hamdan and Utoufa de Lap won the recent Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Endurance Cup in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia earlier this week.

Sheikh Hamdan excelled in the race as he made brilliant use of his extraordinary endurance racing acumen to win the cup aboard the Ali Ghanim Al Marri-conditioned Utoufa De Lap. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai was in attendance.

The CEI 2* 120km contest is Saudi Arabia’s most prestigious distance riding event. The 120km endurance race involves riders completing four laps through desert dunes and mountain peaks in pursuit of a share of a SR15 million (Dh14.69m) jackpot. The event is considered to be one of the most important endurance races in the region, with 200 competitors from 17 countries taking part. The winning pair - Sheikh Hamdan and Utoufa de Lap - maintained an average speed of 26.47kph during the course of the ride and were clocked at 4 hours 35 minutes and 13 seconds, winning by just fractions of a second from MRM Stables’ Saif Ahmed Mohammed Al Mazrouei who clocked the same time aboard Razorback Mechano.

Sheikh Hamdan's Insta-story on Friday morning also showed him cycling around a local cycling track in Dubai.

A accomplished sportsman, Sheikh Hamdan appeared to be wearing the colours of UAE Team Emirates cycling team who compete in the Tour de France.
