Volcanic activity worldwide 2020: Etna, Pacaya, Reventador, Dukono, Shishaldin, Fuego, Taal

Etna (Sicily, Italy): Volcanic ash advisory (updated December 12, 2019). Etna, one of the world's most active volcanoes, is on the east coast of Sicily, Italy, in the Metropolitan City of Catania, between the cities of Messina and Catania. It lies above the "plate" margin between the African Plate and the Eurasian Plate.

Krakatau (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): Volcanic Ash Advisory (updated Jan 3, 2020)

Dukono, North Maluku, Indonesia: Volcanic Ash Advisory (updated December 29, 2019). Explosive activity seen in late December 2019. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 7000 ft (2100 m) altitude or flight level 070 and is moving at 15 kts in W direction.

Nevados de Chillán (Central Chile): Volcanic Ash Advisory (updated December 30, 2019). Chile's National Geology and Mining Service has issued an orange alert for Nevados de Chillán, a complex of snow-capped stratovolcanoes.

Pacaya (Guatemala): On November 27, 2019, strombolian explosions were reported, with lava flows to the north and northwest of the slopes. Updated January 8, 2020.

Reventador (Ecuador): Volcanic Ash Advisory (updated January 7, 2020)

Shishaldin (Aleutian Islands, Alaska): Shishaldin Volcano erupts on January 6, 2020, as seen from Cold Bay, 58 mi NE of the volcano. Volcanic Ash Advisory (updated January 7, 2020). Explosive activity increases, sending an ash cloud 27,000 feet, triggering aviation warnings. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Anchorage warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 33,000 ft (10100 m) altitude or flight level 330 and is moving at 60 kts in ESE direction.

Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan): Volcanic Ash Advisory: Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Tokyo warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 8000 ft (2400 m) altitude or flight level 080 and is moving at 10 kts in E direction. Taal Volcano, near Manila, erupted on January 12, 2020, disrupting hundreds of flights in Manila and Clark international airports in Luzon.
