Two species are prevalent in the UAE, the Mountain Gazelle which are found primarily in mountainous areas and on gravel plains, and the Arabian Sand Gazelle or Reem Gazelle, like the kind seen in the pictures.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature has declared the species vulnerable. According to the Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi, the biggest threats Arabian Sand Gazelles face are uncontrolled hunting and habitat degradation.
