Orange alert: An orange alert has been issued in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh for today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday) by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In Himachal Pradesh, some 83 roads and two national highways have been closed, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). Heavy rains: The past 48 hours have seen heavy rains. In the previous 24 hours, rainfall in Mandi district was at its highest.

Traffic jams: Heavy traffic jams caused by stalled automobiles on the roads and the interstate resulted in numerous vehicles being delayed for hours, even overnight, in certain locations of the State. According to the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), clearing work is still being hampered by many landslides in the Pandoh-Mandi area, which caused the overnight traffic gridlock.

Roadblocks: Locals, including Gurudwara members, rushed to the commuters' assistance. The ASP reported that efforts were being made to assist those who were trapped on the route. The official claimed that the route was blocked as a result of a flash flood in Bagipul, in the Kullu district. However, the Mandi-Joginder Nagar National Highway has been cleared and reopened, and traffic flow has been resumed since last night.
