Abu Dhabi Police traffic officials distribute about 90,000 meals to motorists at the time of iftar to reduce instances of speeding and thereby reduce the risk of accidents.

The meal boxes will also contain leaflets designed to promote awareness of traffic safety regulations, said Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Abdullah, protocol and relationship officer at Abu Dhabi Police.

Sharjah police personnel distributed Iftar packets to motorists near the Al Majaz mosque. Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al Dhahouri, Head of the Public Relations Department of Sharjah Police, said: “The distribution of iftar meals is one of the annual initiatives organised by the Sharjah Police General Headquarters with the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan, which embodies the noble values that the holy month urges, and activates the values and principles of Social responsibility, and the consolidation of the culture of goodness that characterises the UAE.”

Sharjah Police, in cooperation with Emirates Red Crescent Authority, have carried out a community initiative since the beginning of Ramadan by distributing iftar meals at traffic intersections in the cities of the emirate.
