Arafat Day is an Islamic holiday that falls on the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah of the lunar Islamic Calendar and marks the second day of Haj, or the pilgrimage. Eid Al Adha is observed on the next day, and marks the end of the pilgrimage. The exact dates of Islamic holidays are determined according to moon sighting.
