Rampant increase of transport fees must be curtailed
The rampant increasing of school transport fees in Dubai has left parents reeling under the financial strain. Compounding their woes is the fact that while school fees, which included tuition and transport, were regulated by education authorities across the country, the outsourcing of transport services has left parents at the mercy of operators.
In many cases it has been revealed that the outsourced companies actually have affiliations with the schools thus illustrating that these institutions are bent on increasing their profit margins at every given opportunity. Schools must be accountable to the well-being of their students. Centres of learning should not operate on a business bottom line which they chase at all costs while ignoring their commitment to suitable education.
Institutions like the Roads and Transport Authority and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority must become proactive and address this issue. If costs are to be raised then it must be done in a logical rather than arbitrary manner.
