As European groups challenge the Israeli blockade, there is a lack of regional action

The situation in Gaza is in dire need of attention as human suffering has been increasing because of the Israeli blockade.

The actions taken by various European and international activists to bring to light the plight of Palestinians is commendable.

Now, perhaps it is time that their counterparts in the Arab world follow with a similar gesture.

The latest expression of solidarity was by a group of pro-Palestinian activists and European politicians who docked a boat in Gaza despite the strict Israeli rules.

This show of support for the people was the third such incident in less than three months.

"Even prisoners have rights, rights to have food and medicine and to live in dignity. People here in Gaza don't have those rights", said British Lord Nazir Ahmad, House of Lords member and head of the delegation.

The real question here is why hasn't there been a single boat from the Arab world sailing to Gaza?

Is it due to a lack of activists or officials and politicians supporting those activists?

This is embarrassing as much as it is disappointing; the blockade should be at the top end of any agenda.
