Al Shabab are moved only by vengeance and evil

The northern Kenya massacre of bus passengers on their way home for vacations is an act of terrorism

Al Shabab terrorists stopped a bus on an isolated road in northern Kenya on Saturday and ordered all off. Those who could recite verses of the Quran were spared — and those that couldn’t were massacred. There were 28 victims of these terrorists in the attack, and most were public servants on their way back to Nairobi to begin their Christmas vacations.

Let’s be clear — these terrorists acted not with Islam in their hearts but with hate and vengeance on their minds. Their acts, in choosing whether a victim lived or died based on their recall of the Quran, is a perversion of the beauty and very values of Islam itself. They are murderers, mowing down innocent victims in their twisted crusade for power.

The justification given by the Al Shabab for their massacre is that Kenyan police and security forces raided several mosques last week, recovering arms and explosives hidden there. If indeed true, then why were weapons stored in mosques in the first place.

Al Shabab are not acting in the name of Islam — they are staining Islam with their despicable deeds.
