Sharjah: Sharjah has been named guest of honour at the Turin International Book Fair 2019 in recognition of its internationally acclaimed cultural stature and its contribution to cultural communication on local and international levels.
The honour is a fruition of the vision of His Highness Dr Shaikh Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, whose efforts have entrenched Sharjah’s cultural position on the global stage, the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) announced.
The announcement was made during the SBA’s participation in current edition of the Turin International Book Fair in Italy from May 10 to 14. It is an accolade that reflects the emirate’s immense efforts in promoting culture communication and love of literature and the arts.
This is the and fifth international recognition of Sharjah. The emirate was named guest of honour at Paris Book Fair 2018, Brazil’s Sao Paulo Book Fair 2018, New Delhi Book Fair 2019 and Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2020.
