Wide range of works will be on display at Sikka
Dubai: Entries to the second edition of Sikka, the contemporary art fair that showcases Emirati and local talent, are now open for submissions.
The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the organiser, stated that the last date for submission is February 10. A jury will select visual artworks, and the shortlist of submissions will be announced two days later.
Artists are invited to submit a wide range of visual art mediums. Projects can range from video art to sculpture and installation. Artists can send their proposals for a house, courtyard or space in the quarter of Al Bastakiya — the venue of the event that will be held from March 15-25 in Dubai.
Sikka is billed as an event that will promote the most compelling creative works across the UAE. According to Dubai Culture, the emirate's dedicated authority for culture, arts, and heritage, it is also sought after as a support network among artists, connecting them and helping them reach an audience. Salem Belyouha, Projects and Events Director of Dubai Culture, termed Sikka "an ideal springboard to showcase their skills".
Sikka is part of Art Week, the umbrella initiative that includes a range of contemporary art and design events, major museum shows, and new gallery exhibitions and artists' projects.
