Dubai: Travellers from the UAE to the UK will now be able to show their vaccine status on the Al Hosn app to be accepted in the UK, as per a recent announcement.

On September 22, Grant Shapps, UK’s Secretary of State for Transport, tweeted that UAE vaccine certificates will be accepted in the UK.

He said: “We will be accepting UAE vaccination certificates from October 4 following updates to their vaccination app. As a major transport hub, which is home to many British expats, this is great news for reopening international travel, boosting business and reuniting families.”

Which vaccines will be accepted?

The British Embassy in the UAE also shared the tweet, adding that those who are fully vaccinated with any of the following vaccines will be able to travel to the UK by showing the vaccine status on their Al Hosn App:

• Pfizer-BioNTech

• Oxford-AstraZeneca

• Moderna

• Janssen

You must have had a complete course of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before you arrive in England, as per the UK government’s official website gov.uk.

How can I register a vaccine taken outside the UAE on the Al Hosn app?

If you have received one of these approved vaccines outside the UAE and want to register it on the Al Hosn app, you would need to follow these steps:

When you are planning to travel to the UAE, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) advises you to register their details on the ‘ICA UAE Smart’ app, which is available for Apple and Android devices, or by visiting the website - smartservices.ica.gov.ae.

Step 1: Visit smartservices.ica.gov.ae

Step 2: Select ‘Public services’.

Step 3: Select ‘Register arrivals’.

When you are filling out the form, you will need to provide your personal details like your date of birth, passport number, port of departure and arrival and dates on which you took the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test.

Once approved, the accredited certificates will show on the Al Hosn app.
