The woman who has her fingers in all the big stars’ hair, Jen Atkin, is all set to share her knowledge at Beauty Pop in Dubai this weekend. She’s worked with the Kardashian/Jenner squad, Gigi and Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin, and has her own uber cool hair care line called Ouai Haircare. Here are Atkin’s top tips for getting summer-ready hair.

— Using a hair mask while at the pool will protect your locks especially during summer.

— Nothing ruins a good hair day like summer frizz! Ouai Anti Frizz Sheets will be your best friend this summer.

— Put your hair in braids — this is a super cute look especially during the warmer months.

— Use a silk pillowcase at night to keep hair frizz free.

— Use a toothbrush with strong hairspray to tame flyaways — this is a great trick!

— Do invest in a good haircut — blunt haircuts are so on trend this summer!

— I love the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer! The technology is so next-level that it cuts down styling time and has built-in heat protection

Here are the biggest skincare dos and don’ts from celebrity skincare expert Nurse Jamie, whose clients include Khloe Kardashian, Chrissy Tiegen, Jessica Alba and Huda Kattan (who will also be at Beauty Pop).

Dos:
Use an at-home gadget or beauty tool. You can have the best ingredients (in a product) in the world, but skin is the largest organ of the body and its main function is to protect. So you can apply cream until you are blue in the face but for maximum performance of your skincare use a beauty tool to help increase product absorption and optimal results like the The Nurse Jamie UpLift Massaging Beauty Roller.

Apply eye cream every morning and night after your face moisturiser. The best way to apply it is after your moisturiser using your ring finger. Using products containing growth factors that increase cell turnover and erase fine lines and wrinkles in addition to adding moisture to that delicate eye area. Here’s an insider tip: Put your eye cream in the fridge. Applying a cool eye cream can help to reduce inflammation and swelling making it the ideal pick me up after a night of no sleep.

Dont’s:
Side sleeping. It’s the No 3 cause of premature ageing — No 1 is UV damage and No 2 is smoking. Don’t sleep on a wrinkle maker, AKA a traditional pillow. Use satin only and a shape that will help you train to sleep on your back, or at least keeps the opening for your face so that the most delicate areas around the eyes, cheeks and neck do not form permanent wrinkles.

Over exfoliating. What I refer to as “over exfoliation nation”. We need to treat our skin like a silk fabric not a piece of leather. When you over exfoliate (physically and chemically) and with over-frequency it destroys the protective barrier that your skin has, once it is removed or compromised you are you exposing your skin to environmental toxins, sun damage, premature ageing, acne, etc.
