From the feeling of discomfort to indigestibility, almost everyone suffers from it at least once. A survey states that nearly one in four residents in the UAE suffer from digestive issues and do not seek intervention. Where do digestive disorders come from? Genetics, stress, pathogenic bacteria in food and some chronic medical conditions are possible causes, but what mainly triggers disorders are dietary choices.

The discomfort that comes from stress and food choices could easily be controlled by us if we knew how to carry ourselves well. In order to do that, we should consider exercising at least four times a week for 30 minutes, increase our water intake to two to 2.5 litres per day, avoid foods that trigger indigestibility such as fatty meals, excess carbohydrates, and carbonated beverages. Another way to maintain healthy digestion is by keeping our gut microflora healthy by increasing the number of beneficial bacteria to outnumber the harmful bacteria in our intestines.

This can be done by the intake of probiotics, which are live beneficial bacteria that create a healthier gut microflora. There are different types and strains of probiotics and are found in different products such as dairy products, kimchi, supplements and pills, powdered supplements or even drops. One specific strain of probiotics is called the Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota (LcS), which is known to be found in Yakult, a fermented milk drink with diverse health benefits, and has been scientifically proven to help in digestion.

A study performed on constipated and diarrhoetic patients proved that after the consumption of LcS, there was an improvement and controlled symptoms of constipation and diarrhoea. Other than that, it is also proven to help reduce feelings of discomfort and indigestion. Yakult Gold contains more than 30 billion live LcS, meaning it will reach your intestines alive to help deliver all the benefits required to keep your gut healthy.
