If your little baby suffers from colic, you could be looking at more than three hours of torrential, inconsolable crying every day.

Traditionally colic has been attributed to digestive problems, such as trapped wind. More recently, however, health experts agree that colic affects 20 per cent of babies, involves daily bouts of excessive crying in an otherwise healthy baby, and the cause is unknown.

Dr Charles Jones of the California Chiropractic and Sports Medicine Center takes a different view of infantile colic, believing that it could be due to spine misalignment occurring during birth.

He says, "Natural childbirth can be traumatic for the immature human spine, with the neck and head experiencing a great deal of compression, rotation, extension and traction."

According to Dr Jones, byapplying light finger pressure to certainareas of the neck and back, a baby can be instantly relieved of discomfort and colic symptoms. Call 04-4298292 or visit www.californiachiropracticcenter.com.
