It is not every day that you get a call from Rohit Shetty’s office.

And if the call is about an offer to do a song sequence with none other than the great Shah Rukh Khan, it goes beyond one’s dreams.

Recalling that day, Tamil actor Priyamani said, “I took up the opportunity. There were no second thought about it.”

The item number, 1,2,3, 4, Get on the Dance Floor, from Shetty’s upcoming film, Chennai Express, is making waves on Youtube and TV.

“I landed on the sets. The song was choreographed by Raju Sundaram, [Prabhu Deva’s brother],” continued the national awardee, who rose to fame with Tamil film Paruthiveeran.

“We shot for five nights and it was wonderful working with Shah Rukh. Good fun,” added Priyamani.

“Shah Rukh is a chilled-out person and down to earth. He is particular about getting the steps right and eager to go for more retakes,” added the actress, who was first spotted during college by choreographer Prasad Bidappa and encouraged by him, she entered modelling.

However, this was not the first time she met SRK. Her fond moment was at the 2007 Goa Film Fest where she shared the podium with SRK as chief guests.

Offers came after noted Tamil director Bharati Raja cast her in his film, Kangalal Kaidhu Sei. Ameer’s Paruthiveeran, revealed the actor in her and subsequently the psychology graduate impressed viewers with her performances in Ranjith’s Thirakatha, (Malayalam), Mani Ratnam’s Ravanan, and Ram Gopal Varma’s Raktha Charithra 2.

Coming up is her Telegu film, Chandee, a story of revenge directed by V Samudra.

Priyamani is also working on two Malayalam films, namely Anil Das’ True Story, and Dr Biju’s Painting Life.

Although she had not planned a career in films, in retrospective, Priyamani said that she was happy with the way her career had turned out.

“I am not into the number games but wish to do meaningful roles,” signed off the actress, whose dream role is the one played by Ramya Krishnan in Padayappa.
