EVA LONGORIA’S HOLLYWOOD HOME ON SALE

Actress-director-producer Eva Longoria has put her hilltop compound in Hollywood Hills West on the market for $14 million (Dh51.4 million). Earlier this month, she bought another home in the Beverly Crest area for $13.5 million.

The house she’s selling has an A-list pedigree, having been previously owned by box-office star Tom Cruise. Set on more than 1 hectare, the European-style estate includes a three-bedroom main house, two small studios and a guesthouse. Stone paths and walkways connect the various structures.

Within the main house are an Italian-farmhouse-style kitchen and a living room with a fireplace. The detached guesthouse has its own kitchen as well as four bedrooms and four bathrooms. There is space for wine tasting and storage.

Walls of picture windows bring city and garden views inside.

A lagoon-style swimming pool and spa, fountain features, gardens and a trellis-topped patio make up the gated grounds.

After Cruise sold the property in 2015 for $11.4 million, Longoria revealed in an interview that she was the buyer.

The 42-year-old, known for her role on the series Desperate Housewives, this year appeared on the show Empire and the miniseries Decline and Fall. Her producing credits include Mother Up!, Telenovela and Devious Maids.

KATHY GRIFFIN SEVERED FROM HOLLYWOOD HOME

Actress and comedian Kathy Griffin has finally sold her house in Hollywood Hills for $4.492 million. That’s about $1 million shy of her asking price when she put the gated property up for sale last year.

Set up from the street on a knoll, the 2003-built house has wraparound terraces on two levels for taking in canyon and city views.

Features of the five-bedroom, six-bathroom house include reflecting pools in the foyer, terrazzo marble floors and contemporary chandeliers. The updated kitchen, outfitted with stainless-steel appliances and two islands, opens to the dining room. There are six fireplaces within nearly 752 square metres of interiors.

Outside, the walled setting includes a saltwater swimming pool and spa, an aquarium and a cabana. A covered dining area holds another fireplace.

Griffin, who bought the home more than a decade ago for $2.85 million, won a pair of Emmys for her reality series Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. Last year, she appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race as a guest judge and hosted the E! Series Fashion Police.

The 57-year-old generated intense controversy this year when a photo of her holding a fake severed and bloody head resembling that of President Donald Trump went viral. She apologized for the image, then later retracted her apology.

Griffin lives in a 1,244-square-metre mansion in Bel-Air she purchased last year for $10.85 million.

GOODBYE, ORANGE COUNTY PARADISE

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt has sold his Cape Cod-style home in Newport Beach for $3.09 million.

Built in 1967, the blue-hued two-storey presents itself as a vacation retreat with income potential, with kitchens on each level and three separate living areas. The 232 square metres of living space features custom millwork, wainscoting, five bedrooms and four bathrooms.

Wraparound balconies and a rooftop deck take in panoramic ocean views. A small patio area sits off the front of the home.

The property is about half a block from the beach on a corner lot. There are three parking spaces, including an attached two-car garage.

Dirnt, 45, is a founding member of Green Day. Among the rock group’s hits is American Idiot, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Basket Case. Two years ago, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Dirnt bought the property in 2015 for $3 million, records show.

POST-COBURN HOME SELLS FOR $4.4 MILLION

The onetime home of Oscar-winning actor James Coburn has sold in Sherman Oaks for $4.4 million.

Expanded and reimagined by the sellers, the compound centres on a 1950s contemporary set on 1 hectare. Surrounded by mature landscaping and towering trees, the two-storey home is reached by a long driveway that terminates at a motor court.

The 712 square metres of living space includes a skylighted great room, five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The downstairs master wing opens to a swimming pool. The property also has a three-car garage and a gardener’s workshop.

Coburn, who died in 2002 at 74, sold the house in 1996 for $865,000, public records show. The western and tough-guy film actor was in such films as The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape and Our Man Flint.

He won an Academy Award for supporting actor for Affliction (1997).
