The Nike Rock Star Workout comes from very A-list roots. Created by Jamie King, choreographer to none other than Madonna, Britney Spears and Prince, set about using the high-octane stage shows to create a fun and funky routine for everyone to enjoy.
"The workout mixes the artistic and athletic side of dancing," said dance instructor Marie Forleo ahead of a huge outdoor workout for women in Dubai that was offered last week. "You leave the class feeling like a rock star."
The Nike Rock Star Workout first hit the big time on the TV show So You Think You Can Dance, with the high-profile judges Cicely and Olisa involved with the workout's choreography.
How to dance like a rock star
Top tips from Rock Star Workout instructors Sonja Moses and Vicki Igbokwe:
- It's all about attitude.
- Listen to your own heartbeat and find your groove.
- Use facial expression.
- Listen to the music and get inspired by the lyrics. If the lyrics talk about sunshine and heart, then mime it out. This helps to build coordination.
- Really get into it and enjoy it.
