Pitti Uomo opens in Italy
Pitti Uomo, which is quite possibly one of the most important men’s fashion event in the world, opened in Florence, Italy, for its first physical event since the pandemic. In its 101st edition, Pitti Uomo is a biannual fashion fair that was started in 1972.
The seasonal men’s fashion fair is attended by some of the most stylish men in the world who converge to see the latest trends in the industry. However, it is essentially a trade fair where several designer labels, both up and coming, as well as the staples, come together to showcase their latest collections to buyers, visitors and the media.
The first day saw the unveiling of the latest Fall-Winter trends. This edition witnessed the attendance of several brands including Italian fashion house Lardini, while other labels and guests include Ecoalf, Paul and Shark, Ten C, Filson, Connolly, Marc O'Polo, Christopher Raeburn, Camper, Premiata, Holden, Aldomariacamillo and Save The Duck. As many as 600 latest Fall-Winter collections will be on display during the course of the event that runs until January 13.
This year’s event will “be putting you onto the new brands to watch, showcasing the best street style and giving you an inside look key items that will be driving next fall,” according to an Instagram post on Pitti Uomo’s account.
The first day of the event focused on colour, and that colour of the season was Mandarin Orange, which is being seen widely on the streets. In fact, Italian label Ten c called it out as a key hue in its 2022 Fall-Winter collection.
Overall, it was comfortable clothing that appeared to be the theme, having emerged from the lifestyle changes due to the pandemic, and its influence shows no sign of waning. Brands such as 032c made loungewear the key pillar of their collection. The line-up offered sweats in cool nude palettes turned up a notch. Also present at event was Spanish footwear brand Camper, which presented its mules on the first day of the fair.
