Dubai visa notification to be made via e-mail and SMS

Dubai: Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) has launched a mobile M-Visa service, to provide instant messages when entry visa permits are issued.

It is available for customers who use the online application process via www.ednrd.ae. Once relevant payment is made, the visa will be sent by e-mail or text message, which can then be scanned. This replaces paper-mandated visas.

Customers are notified that the visa has been issued by e-mail and SMS. E-mailed visa documents will be in secure PDF format with the DNRD logo and director's signature.

The SMS includes the same barcode printed on the original 2D document - this can then be sent to any destination. The UAE sponsor will also receive the same notifications.

Waiting time reduced

Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director of DNRD, said, "The use of M-Visa facilities is convenient, secure, easy, and will reduce waiting time. It is very important for us to increase our customers' satisfaction and travel experience in the UAE."

DNRD check points set up at UAE entry points will be able to read the details of the entry permit directly from mobile devices. Applications can be tracked online and the service will start from January 2009.
