Dubai: Dubai is expecting an increase in the number of passengers at the emirate's borders, said a senior Ministry of Interior spokesman.
Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director-General of Dubai General Department for Residency and Foreigners Affairs, said on Monday the department was expecting a large number of travellers to come to Dubai over land, or through airports and ports.
Al Merri said officials and staff at Dubai borders, the airport and ports had been alerted to prepare to receive the influx of people returning to the UAE after their vacations. "We are expecting more movement at Dubai borders in the coming few days as more people are expecting to be back before and during Ramadan," said Al Merri.
He urged staff at the airport, port and land borders to be ready to ease the travellers' entry process, and to help them in any matter related to the entry process.
"Our staff and officials at Dubai borders represent the civilised face of the country and they are doing their best in serving travellers with high qualified manner," Al Merri said.
