Dubai: The Dubai General Department for Residency and Foreigners Affairs announced its working hours for employees during Ramadan.
While the department will remain open from 8am to 6pm, employees will work for five hours on alternating shifts in accordance with the Human Resources Management Law No 27 for 2006.
Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director-General of the Residency Department, said that the department had already been following flexible working hours during the entire year to make it convenient for its customers, and will do so for the first time during Ramadan as well. He said that the new timings will result in more working hours for customers to complete their transactions and less for the employees.
Major General Al Merri explained that the employees will work for five hours on different shifts during Ramadan, while the department will remain open from 8am to 6pm to make it convenient for customers to complete their transactions on the same day.
He said an emergency team will work 24-hours-a-day during Ramadan and will handle urgent cases only.
