The latest openings, reviews and meal deals for October

Nineteen
Overlooking the 18th hole of the golf course, Nineteen is sophisticated without being stuffy – think dark wood-panelled walls, an open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows leading to the terrace, which in cooler weather is the perfect place to dine alfresco. The menu, much to my delight, fits on one page and offers a small selection of contemporary European dishes – mainly carnivorous offerings dominated by its grill section. This is posh nosh at its best – prime ingredients such as Wagyu striploin and yellowfin tuna loin are given a contemporary spin with adventurous add-ons like avocado sorbet and coffee foam. We started with the crispy goat cheese laced with honey, which is a sticky, melt-in-the-mouth ball of deliciousness. The modern prawn cocktail, a towering work of art, combines a juicy prawn tempura with a crisp crab salad. Yum. For mains, the combination of textures and flavours in both dishes
we chose was divine. The duck breast with cabbage, apple and honey was sticky and tasty; and the fresh swordfish with a rich side of foie gras was incredibly moreish – this is fine-dining comfort food at its best. For pudding, we opted for classics, a banoffee pie and bakewell tart. The food is fantastic, the service excellent and the views stunning.
