Azur means blue. But that’s the last colour you will be feeling after you’ve tried the restaurant’s carefully thought-out iftar fare at Raffles Dubai at Wafi.

It is the kind of place you would take family and friends to: to impress them, enjoy time with them, and experience a slice of Arab hospitality.

The food is beautiful. The taste is consistent across all stations, competing to outdo each other. We began our meal with the cream of chicken soup - hearty, wholesome and comforting, the kind that gets better with each spoonful.

After a 10-minute break, we were energised enough to see what the mains had to offer. And I, for one, was not disappointed.

I’m not a great fan of ouzi, but the rice and lamb dish served here begs to differ. The rice may look dry at first that is until you take the first bite, when the melted butter kicks in and forces you to slide into the deliciousness of the meal.

En route to the salad station, I decided I’d skip a drink to leave room for dessert. “Think again” said the tropical delight as it lured me to drink into the green apple, coconut cream and passion fruit concoction.

Other favourites include the fresh fatayers, traditional fateh, pasta Bolognaise, laban with ginger and the oriental rice pudding from the dessert station.

Azur knows its food. And if you do too, treat yourself to some of the finest in town. Feeling “blue” will from now on have a totally new meaning.
