Italian restaurant equates to comfort food for me, and I found that comfort recently at Bianca, Jumeirah Beach Residence. This spot at The Beach mall features classy, white interiors and a casual and friendly atmosphere.
The staff gave us some suggestions and after a quick perusal of the menu, we’re ready to start our Italian indulgence.
We kick off the meal with a favourite — Burrata in a jar. The creamy and fresh cheese comes with chopped tomatoes, spinach leaves and croutons. The cheese itself is something special and combined with the sweet and cool cherry tomatoes it’s the perfect summer treat.
Jumping straight into the mains, we try the Penne ala Siciliana; pasta with fried eggplant and buffalo mozzarella. The tomato sauce is seasoned well, and the eggplant adds a nice texture. It’s a simple, hearty dish that just hits the spot.
It’s just not possible to say no to pizza while at an Italian restaurant, so we pick the very simple Vegetariana. The crust is super thin and light, with a slight crunch on the outside, and the toppings don’t weigh it down.
For a really indulgent treat, there is the chicken and mushrooms with truffle. The creamy dish is sinfully rich and the truffle just takes it up a notch. The chicken is lightly fried and is drowned in the flavourful mushroom sauce. A must-order if you’re a lover of truffle.
Dessert is the very simple angioletti con Nutella — fried pizza dough covered in sugar and the chocolate sauce. It’s not a sophisticated dish, but who cares when there’s Nutella involved? The crunch of the dough makes this really fun to eat.
You can’t go wrong with Bianca if you’re looking for fresh, simple and hearty Italian food.
