The first trailer of the Abu Dhabi-set animation Catsaway launched on Monday, giving viewers a first glimpse into the hand-drawn feature.

Catsaway, directed by Emirati filmmaker Fadel Al Muhairi, tells the story of a group of cats trying to make a home on Abu Dhabi’s streets as the city grows around them. It is set to release theatrically later this year.

The film utilises traditional hand-drawn animation rather than CGI (computer generated images). It began production earlier this year. Catsaway is being produced by Tent Pictures Productions, in cooperation with Juice Studios in Poland. It’s being made at twofour54. In an apparent nod to the production company, the trailer features a meek cat offering an Abu Dhabi license plate that reads ‘2454’.
