After a long day of observance and self-reflection, one looks forward to quality time with family. Loumi, the Arabic themed restaurant at the Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai, situated in close proximity to Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport is arguably one of the best places to have your first meal after fasting for the day. Loumi brings the rich flavours of the gulf, and the colourful selection of a buffet style iftar will appeal to any palate.

On entering the restaurant, the scent of hot yellow lentil soup with condiments fills the room as you walk towards the buffet table, enticing passers-by to dig in. If it's greens you prefer rather than soup, then head over to the salad section for some hummus, baba ghanouj, keshkeh be joz, tabbouleh, fattoush, mohammarah, vine leaves, batata harra, fasolieh bel zait, chicken liver, lamb spleen and harraq espawo. Fancy some wheat to go with your lentil soup? Try Loumis’ freshly baked fatayer and pita bread. A variety of cheese goes best with any of the bread you bring back to your table.

The main dishes are a combination of seafood, meat and chicken, cooked traditionally but with a western touch in the presentation. Enjoy the daily chicken shawarma with condiments, oven roasted lamb ouzi with oriental rice sheesh tawooq, lamb kebab, beef kufta kebab, marinated prawns, freshly fried Levant falafel with tahina sauce, fatteh hummus, dal makhani, chole masala, kosa ablama, roasted chicken with potatoes, lamb okra, Lebanese kufta bel laban and fish harra. Truly a feast fit for a king.

Once you have had your fill of the main course, wind down your iftar with some delectable sweets, from baklava and mamoul tamer to basbousa, balah al sham, qatayef cheese, shoaybyat, halawet al jibin and more. Combine this with some combined  with Turkish tea or coffee for that perfect iftar. Credit goes to Executive Chef Winfried Helmetag of the Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai for serving up the excellent iftar menu at Loumi.
