Padahastasana is a deeply relaxing posture. When we are relaxed our skin stays hydrated and appears radiant. The skin might be the largest organ of the body, but beauty is certainly not just skin deep! Our skin is the interface between our internal and external wellbeing. Yoga gives your skin a healthy glow by balancing your hormones, and boosting blood flow to your skin, removing toxins and impurities.

Procedure:

1. Stand with your feet together. Inhale and raise your arms, keep your shoulders relaxed.

2. Slowly bend forwards as you exhale, stretch forward and downward.

3. Relax the neck and shoulders, and let the upper body go loose in the final position when you reach the ground or as far as you can go. Remain in the final position for 1 minute, maintaining normal breathing and keep your eyes closed.

4. Open your eyes, inhale as you reverse the procedure, stretching out and upwards, and exhale as you bring the arms down and return to the starting position.

Benefits:

• It massages and tones the digestive organs, and alleviates flatulence, constipation and indigestion.

• Inverting the torso increases vitality and improves blood flow to the face, stimulating cell rejuvenation and hair growth.

• It improves your metabolic rate.

Caution: People with slipped disc should not practice this posture. Those with heart problems should practice under expert guidance.
