Hostage drama or PR stunt?
Character actress Jean Garcia was the subject of a text brigade last week following reports that she and her crew were held hostage by a politician in Surigao, a province south of Manila. Allegedly, Jean had an altercation with one of the organisers of the show that brought them there, without knowing the feathers she ruffled were from the kin of a dominant political family in the area.
Crying
Apparently, all went well and Jean arrived safely home in Manila. But kibitzers who saw her in the airport said she was heavily guarded and was crying as she left the Philippine Airlines aircraft.
She has not since granted any interviews about the incident, but our mole said the politician's kin wanted her to do "beyond" what her contract stipulated, which of course irked the popular TV and film star.
