Most people would call in sick at work for a week.

But being in the public eye brings a whole new dimension to break-ups and infidelities.

And Robert Pattinson has revealed that he coped with Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders’ affair scandal by disassociating himself from the situation and the media frenzy around the Twilight pair.

Speaking on camera during a press junket slot with Showbiz Tonight, the 26-year-old wriggled in his seat as he was questioned about his well-being, with the interviewer saying fans are concerned.

In a similar fashion to Monday’s appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, R-Patz giggled uncomfortably and seemed unsure of how to provide the perfect answer — simply saying: “Yeah”.

The reporter continued on, asking the British actor it was surreal to see all the reports about him, while touching on rumours that he was alleged to have been “drinking and wallowing in misery”.

However, Pattinson held his own, saying: “Since the first Twilight you enter this realm where things are reported about you. It’s weird.”

Cosmopolis director David Cronenberg, who was sitting in on the interview too, jumped in, saying: “It’s a very abstract realm that doesn’t really have a lot to do with personal reality.”

Pattinson then described it as “you start having a total disassociation”.

Filmmaker Cronenberg — who gave us The Fly, eXistenZ and A Dangerous Method — perpetuated his point, adding: “People think they know what’s going on but they don’t really.”

As the footage comes to an end, and the interviewer agrees to drop the subject, she asks on final time: “So you really are OK?” to which R-Patz responds: “Yeah”.

The reason for Robert’s return to the spotlight so soon after the scandal is to promote his new leading man role in Cronenberg’s latest thriller Cosmopolis.

Three weeks ago, pictures of Stewart emerged in the arms of her Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. The 41-year-old has two children with wife and British model Liberty Ross.
